VisionBot first English pitch was done in Silicon Valley, USA at 18th February 2015 at the Global Innovation Summit. It was an interesting experience, the team got from over there a lot of know-how how to build a better startup and a successful Kickstarter campaign from a lot of IT experts and venture investors. Alexandru Ionut Budisteanu had been invited by the European Young Inventor Forum to do a pitch in front of many mentors and investors from Silicon Valley at the Global Innovation Summit 2015. It was his second time to travel and understand the mental state that exists and persist for many years in Silicon Valley for new technologies startups and innovations. He talked with a lot of interesting people and even electrical engineers who are looking later on for the status of VisionBot and the stages of Kickstarter campaign. In San Francisco, Alexandru met one of the HEXO+ drone co-founders and he learned a lot from HEXO+ experience.
A few days days ago, at the Romanian Students Abroad League gala that took place on Thursday, January 8, 2015 Alexandru Ionut Budisteanu received the best student of the year in Romania award for 2013-2014. It is a great honor for Alexandru because this award was handed by the new President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis. For him, it was quite hard to achieve this because he is just a sophomore computer geek college student in Romania. According to his blog “The award ceremony was amazing and I remember with great pleasure the moments when I shook his hand, receiving my beautiful trophy and that I became speechless. That day, fully charged my batteries to continue further more with my start up projectVisionBot and to work harder in order to succeed. I think, next month I will go to Silicon Valley in order to talk with IT experts and business people to show them my start up project. Although we have a huge political difference, I still believe in my view. I don’t want to jinx you telling that one swallow doesn’t a summer make.”
Almost there! A few more hours to wait to enter in 2015! We, from VisionBot, are eager to wait for 2015. To see out the results! By the way, we didn’t even enter in 2015 and already Alexandru Ionut Budisteanu got accepted to attend the International event Harvard World Model United Nations that will be held in South Korea between 16-20 March 2015. Each year, 2500 international students gether in a different place to debate and simulate the United Nations. The WorldMUN is an annual traveling Model United Nations conference that is run by Harvard students and a local university team from a host city. WorldMUN moves to a new international city each year and attracts over 2,000 college and graduate students from more than 70 countries, making it the largest international collegiate-level Model UN conference in the world. For sure it will be fun and an amazing experience for Alexandru Ionut Budisteanu because he will be the Secretary of the CPC Central Secretariat and the Head of the CPC.
Yesterday, I implemented successfully the option for the software automatically updating checking if there is any new update available to the desktop software. If there is a new version already lunched and published on the website www.visionbot.net the software will download the new updates and automatically install them. I attached a screenshot of this new feature.
After 4 months of hard work and devotion, VisionBot won the First Prize at the National Fair of Inventions and Scientific Creation for Youth held in Bucharest this month.
This National Fair is part of Gaudeamus Fair and it was organised by the Minister of Youth and Sports in Romania. Its main goal is to support the innovative creations of youth people with age between 15 and 35 years old. The 3 days event is composed out of three sections: applied science, information technology and the technology of the future. VisionBot was proud representative of information technology.
This is the 5th edition where Alexandru presented his invention and got the first prize for it. The jury was represented by inventors, academicians and representatives of OSIM (State Office of Inventions and Trademarks)
We must admit that this is definitely a step further for VisionBot and we are looking forward to see it commercialized on the market.
During 13th and 15th of November Alexandru attended the 63rd edition of Brussels Innova with another great project that he has: “Device for automatically detection of burglars wearing hoods”.
His invention was made out of three different applications. First, by using different Image Processing techniques the software is able to understand the moving object and track them; second, in order to recognize the burglars who are wearing hoods or other masks, the device uses Artificial Intelligence; third, the electronic device is connected to a microphone and in this way is able to recognize the fingerprint noise generated by an angle grinder when someone is trying to cut and steal an ATM machine.
Brussels Innova is a forum for business and institutions active in R&D where the innovation showcases for more than 20 countries.
Alexandru, congrats again! You made Romania proud!
Alexandru Ionut Budisteanu has just come back from London with more energy and enthusiasm to get things done. It was a great pleasure and honor for him to be a speaker at WIRED 2014 and he hopes that he inspired the people from the audience in perusing their passion. ”Challenge yourself and success will follow!” was the piece of advice he gave to the auditory. He also said that patience and motivation play a significant role in being successful. During the conference Alexandru spoke about his previous experience and about his future plans. Of course he did not forget to mention VisionBot which took birth because one of his priorities is to help others to bring their ideas to fruition. WIRED 2014 is the fourth two-day flagship event from WIRED that gather more than 45 speakers from a multitude of disciplines including: design, advertising, digital media, life sciences, publishing, programming, humanitarianism and more. Its main purpose is to present and attract people that are changing and defining the future.
Yesterday, Alexandru Ionut Budisteanu attended a high-level conference entitled: “The future of Europe is Science”. The conference was hosted by the European Commission. Alexandru was invited by the President of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso to be a speaker in a panel and to debate the current European educational system issues. Alexandru underlined the idea that although Europe has been the world’s greatest place for sciences, arts, education and innovation for the past centuries, now Europe has a big problem with education. Less and less young people are interested in studying STEM. You can read more details about the event where Alexandru took place on his personal blog budisteanu.net
Next week Alexandru will be a speaker at the conference “WIRED 2014” hosted by the WIRED magazine. Over there Alexandru Budisteanu will speak about education, computer science and VisionBot.
After being nominated by the TIME magazine as one of the most influential teens of 2013, Ionut Budisteanu is making again Romanians proud. In October 2014 Ionut was selected for the New Europe 100 – project – a list of outstanding challengers from Central and Eastern Europe who are changing the world and improve people`s lives. The project is organised by Res Publica together with Visegrad Found, Google and Financial Times. For more information you can access http://ne100.org/leaders/ionut-budisteanu.
Ionut is very happy and grateful that his ideas are highly appreciated, but at the same time he knows that he has a big responsibility: to come up with new and innovative projects and most important to implement them. For doing this he put a lot of passion and enthusiasm into his work. If you are wondering what was Ionut doing lately, I can tell you that he is dedicating all his time to his first start-up: VisionBot – a Pick and Place machine that helps electrical engineers, hackers, makers or hobbyists to turn their prototypes into real products.
A few days ago, VisionBot Pick and Place Machine got accepted to EAI360 – Bringing ideas to market, together idea accelerator. Although I had been working to more than 50 projects, I don’t have any entrepreneurship experience. EAI360 it’s a platform to help entrepreneurs just like me to bring your Idea to Market. I had the first online meeting and in a few weeks I will see the experience I will get from EAI360. I think EAI360 it’s a great opportunity for VisionBot, at least in this stage. Also I am looking to register VisionBot to the YCombinator. The deadline for the YCombinator is very close – so I must hurry with the website.
